A timber frame/conventional hybrid, this house has a super insulated building envelope using a combination of cellulose and salvaged foam insulation. A blower door test done pre-drywall showed a very tight building shell(1.08ACH@50).
Timber frame kingpost truss with structural ridge, post and beam mortise and tenon joinery, curved knee struts joining principal rafters to tapered kingpost wedged with cherry below collar tie. Ceiling paneled with douglas fir center match tongue and groove over kitchen and great room.
Custom masonry heater is focal point of cathedral ceilings in kitchen and great room.
