WOODWARD

Located just off a tidal inlet in Brunswick, Maine, this beautiful net-zero, Passive House–level residence was brought to life through the visionary work of Kaplan Thompson Architects. The clients—a family of four—envisioned a contemporary home that responds thoughtfully to the site’s dramatic granite outcroppings and the surrounding former New England fields, now gradually returning to hardwood forest. The home features innovative, sustainability-minded details, including ultra-durable thermally modified spruce cladding and decking, Schüco triple-pane European windows, and an all-wood floor slab that reduces the project’s embodied carbon.
